October isn’t quite here yet, but Oktoberfest is already upon us.

Today’s post will be devoted to that sudsy holiday.

Phoenix Club

Anaheim’s Phoenix Club is a favorite Oktoberfest destination. Advertised as Southern California’s biggest Oktoberfest, it features an oom-pah-pah band from Germany, folk dancers, pony rides, train rides and a petting zoo. And, of course, a wide selection of German beer. Admission is $5 for adults, free for those 18 and younger.

Through Oct. 30. 6 p.m-midnight Fridays, 1 p.m.-midnight Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. 1340 S. Sanderson Ave
Anaheim. 714- 563-4166.

Old World Village

Huntington Beach’s Old World Village has arguably O.C.’s most well-known Oktoberfest; it’s celebrating its 34th year.  It features a live oom-pah-pah band Wednesdays through Sundays, Happy Hour Wednesdays through Saturdays from 3-6:30 p.m., Family Night on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-10 p.m., and of course the fabulous dachshund races every Sunday at 3 p.m. You have to see those lightning-fast wiener dogs at least once before you die.

Through Oct. 30.  6:30-10 p.m.  Wednesdays- Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.-1 a.m. Fridays-Saturdays, 2-7:30 p.m. Sundays. 7561 Center Ave.,  Huntington Beach.  714-702-5985.

Admission: Wednesdays-Thursdays: free; Fridays-Saturdays (21 and over): $15; Sundays: $5, kids 6-12 $2, under 5 free.

Anaheim Brewery

The newly opened brewery and tasting room is expected to have its new Oktoberfest brew on tap this weekend, according to its Facebook page. Address: 336 S. Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim.  Read more about the Anaheim Brewery here

OC Beer Week (Oct. 2-8)

Another Orange County Restaurant Week event, which kicks off Sunday, features beer pairings with gourmet dishes at various Orange County restaurants. Given the time of year, some restaurants are pairing German beer with entrees and appetizers for OC Beer Week.  For example, Haven Gastropub in Orange is pairing an Oktoberfest brew with a choice of a Cheese Plate, Pork Rillettes or Charcuterie Plate for $15. Yard House restaurants are also offering “Shorty” beer flights with various brews on tap, including six different Hefeweizens.

Downtown Disney — Uva Bar

From Sept. 23 through Oct. 8, the Uva Bar at Downtown Disney will offer a menu of German eats and booze. CLICK HERE to review the menu. Also, on Oct. 8, the restaurant will offer live entertainment from noon to 10 p.m. Uva Bar is located at 1580 S. Disneyland Drive, Anaheim.

Now get out there and have a frosty one.
